MAE February Meeting

Hi all,

Here's the scoop on our special guests for Wednesday. Compuware has graciously offered to by the pizza and to provide some speakers to tell us about their experiences with agile. We really would love to see you all at Bastone on Wednesday so if you can, come join us for a fun evening. I bet we can get Gary Gentry of Pillar to pick up the first round of drinks if we all butter him up.

BIO #1: Jason Swafford – Compuware Planning Manager

Jason has worked for Compuware for 12 years in a range of different positions. Over the past 12 months Jason was tasked with the global rollout of Agile best practices for Compuware’s software development division. During this time Compuware has transitioned from a traditional waterfall based development methodology to an agile enterprise, focused on the delivering value, adjusting to market needs and whole product quality. As planning manager Jason oversees the development of a agile project management and backlog management interface and fills the role of senior agile coach and Scrummaster.

BIO #2: Jerrold Emery – Compuware Technology Planning

Jerrold has worked in the Compuware technology organization for 5 years. As Compuware scales to Enterprise Agility, Jerrold has been tasked with ensuring the smooth adoption of Agile best practices. As a member of the Planning Organization, Jerrold works with closely with Development and Product Management to ensure successful delivery of Compuware APM Solutions.

ABSTRACT: As Agile scales to meet the enterprise needs of Compuware’s Technology Organization, inspecting and adapting to the Scrum Framework becomes more critical than ever before. With cross-functional teams that span across the globe, Compuware’s Planning Organization takes daily inventory of their Agile practices to ensure measurable, repeatable and successful deployment of IT solutions to more than 23,000 customers worldwide.

Sorry I'm getting to this so late - been busy with the new job. I have booked the basement of Bastone Brewery for Wednesday February 24th from 5:30pm-8:00pm. We have a speaker firming up and I'll follow up with specifics when I get them. Maybe Marvin will be up to standing up and giving us some teasers on the upcoming mostly free agile conference as well. Regardless, it's sure to be a great night of networking and conversation. BTW, next month we'll be moving back to the west side of town in or around dearborn again.
